Perth in History The Fair Maids House

The Fair Maids House Perth
The Fair Maids House is one of the most famous buildings in Perth due to the writing and imagination of Sir Walter Scott in his tale The Fair Maid of Perth published in 1828. Although the work of Scott  was fiction, the story was woven around existing historic buildings that existed at the time of his writing. The Fair Maids House was an important building as it served as the meeting house of the Glovers. Their motto which was: Grace and Peace, can still be seen carved above the door. Recently converted into the Scottish headquarters for the Royal Geographic society.
