Cottage Perth New Build Day Four

Cottage Perth New Build Day Four
Day four is dry again in Perth with sunny intervals ideal four digging out footings or foundations.
Difficult decisions have had to be made about cutting loved trees down or moving plants and bushes that were in the way. However you cannot have a big tree or bush up against the building and they had to go.

Cottage Perth New Build Day One

Cottage Perth New Build Day One

This is day one of our project to demolish an existing old garage and shed and rebuild. The first day was clearing out years of old rubbish, including chairs, old equipment and boxes. We even had the kitchen sink! My plan is to keep a day by day diary on the blog and also a video diary.
The inside view, lots of old stuff to go.
The roof looking rusty and ready to come down

We hired a ford transit van and made about eight trips to the local recycling centre in Perth. It was a full day and we were exhausted at the end.
Next post will be the demolition.

Elcho Doocote

Elcho Doocote Rynd Perth Scotland
Located close to Elcho Castle stands a circular dovecote. Inside are nesting boxes, and in the centre of the floor a socket that once held a revolving ladder, called a potence. The servants climbed the ladder to collect the pigeon eggs and meat, valued food in these days.

Cluny House Perthshire

Cluny House Perthshire
Cluny House Perthshire taken on a damp rainy day was still beautiful and the selection of plants , shrubs and trees amazing.

The garden was created by Bobby and Betty Masterton. When they arrived in the 1950s there were a few trees – conifers, beeches and oak, but more notably the two magnificent Wellingtonias you can see today. One of them is Britain’s widest conifer, with a girth of 11 metres. Although over 150 years old, these natives of North America are still youngsters as the trees can live for a thousand years.

Opening times: 10am – 6pm March to October inclusive
There is a grassed lawn and decking area suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
